If you pre-ordered an Nvidia Shield and were hoping to have been playing with your new gadget by now, you'll have to wait a bit longer. Right before the portable console was supposed to go on sale, Nvidia announced on its corporate blog that the Shield is getting pushed to later in July due to an unidentified problem with a third-party component.
What many Nvidia fans find most frustrating is that the blog post didn't provide a new release date. It just said that units will ship sometime "later" in July.
The Nvidia Shield is expected to be come with a full-sized controller, a multi-touch, 5-inch, 720p display, fully integrated custom speakers, the Tegra 4 chip, 802.11n 2x2 MIMO Wi-Fi and Google's Jelly Bean operating system. The console will be able to play PC and Android games as well as movies and music.
Preloaded onto the shield will be Hulu Plus and TwitchTV as well as two Android games: Expendable: Rearmed and Sonic 4 Episode II THD. Additional games from the Google Play and NVIDIA TegraZone catalog include Batman: Arkham Asylum, Borderlands 2 and Skyrim.
