AutoLocation uses Tasker's power in combination with the new location and activity APIs Google introduced at I/O. While some basic location functionality existed in the app before, now you get access to geo fences and an activity monitor, which can distinguish between walking, driving, and cycling. It's just another set of tools in the already massive set available through Tasker. Naturally, you'll need the full Tasker app to take advantage of it.
